Job description

Eaton's Mission Systems Division is currently seeking a Program Manager II. This position is based at our Orchard Park, NY plant. The Program Manager II is a key leadership role within Eaton's Aerospace and Defense business, supporting the development and execution of mission critical programs that power and protect aircraft, spacecraft, and defense platforms around the world. In this role, you will lead medium to high complexity programs from inception through delivery, driving disciplined execution across cost, schedule, quality, and performance commitments. You will collaborate with cross functional teams while serving as a trusted interface to customers in highly regulated aerospace and defense markets.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful programs and build deep technical and business experience within a dynamic and expanding business."
Job Responsibilities:
Program Execution & Governance
• Lead programs to meet technical, schedule, cost, and quality objectives
• Develop and maintain Program Management Plans, including scope, schedule, budget, WBS, resources, risk, and communications
• Build and manage integrated schedules and execution plans using standard program management tools
• Apply EVMS principles, including interpretation of CPI/SPI, to assess performance, identify trends, and drive corrective actions
• Ensure adherence to Eaton standard program management and phase gate methodologies (e.g., PROLaunch)
• Establish program governance, lead reviews, and manage escalation and corrective action cadence
Financial & Business Management
• Execute programs to the approved business case, managing cost, margin, and financial commitments
• Partner with the PMO and Finance to support financial reporting, forecasting, and performance assessments
• Communicate cost and schedule status, risks, and recovery actions using objective performance data
Customer, Stakeholder & Contract Management
• Serve as a primary customer interface for assigned programs
• Manage customer communications, expectations, and contractual commitments
• Ensure execution aligns with contractual requirements, specifications, and scope, including support of scope change assessments and negotiations
Bid & Proposal Support
• Support bid and proposal efforts by providing execution inputs such as schedules, risk assessments, resource estimates, and delivery plans
• Partner with Bid Managers and cross functional teams to ensure proposed scope, cost, and schedules are executable
• Participate in proposal reviews and support transition from proposal to execution upon award
• Leverage lessons learned to inform proposal strategy and execution planning
Risk, Change & Issue Management
• Identify, track, and manage program risks, issues, and opportunities
• Integrate cost and schedule performance trends into mitigation and recovery planning
• Ensure effective change control and baseline management, escalating emerging risks as needed
Team Leadership
• Lead and influence cross functional teams in a matrixed environment
• Coordinate resources across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Contracts
• Drive accountability, collaboration, and timely decision making across the program team
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of Project and/or Program Management experience in a manufacturing environment, including leadership of at least one development program through the full lifecycle
  • Experience managing $1M+ programs
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future
  • This position requires access to information or hardware subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee)

Preferred:
  • Experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry
  • Working knowledge of program management fundamentals, including planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business
  • PMP certification
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools
  • Experience using Deltek program management and cost control tools (e.g., Cobra, Open Plan, PM Compass, or equivalent)
  • Oracle ERP systems experience
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), including interpretation and use of CPI/SPI metrics
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) on aerospace or defense programs
