The Maintenance Person contributes to the hotel’s commitment to high-quality guest satisfaction and teamwork by safely and efficiently maintaining the property i.e. performs preventative maintenance; repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on building systems, equipment, and machinery to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to identify issues and implement effective repairs.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, staff, and management, and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of building systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, elevators, and generators, to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, maintenance activities, and equipment performance to facilitate tracking and reporting.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations such as power outages, plumbing leaks, and other critical incidents, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external contractors as needed to address emergency repairs and ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks to upkeep the appearance and functionality of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Assist with renovations, remodeling projects, and equipment upgrades to enhance the overall guest experience and maintain the competitiveness of our property.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures related to maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and safety inspections.

Skills Required

  • Provide high-level customer service, communicate effectively with guests and team members, follow instructions, ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and maintain composure when working under pressure

Technical

  • Solid experience performing repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen and laundry equipment
  • General carpentry skills; knowledge and use of basic hand and power tools required

Experience / Education

  • Minimum 1 year of general building maintenance or equivalent in a trade profession; Vocational School Certification preferred.
