Job description

Pharmacy Manager

Cub Foods is seeking a Pharmacy Manager who will deliver prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. This role is responsible for effectively managing the operations of the Pharmacy, ensuring accurate prescription dispensing, providing appropriate consultation and supervising pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, grad interns and clerks in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service through consistent execution of patient care standards
  • Smiles and greets customers warmly
  • Genuinely thanks each customer and invites them to return
  • Assists customers by: escorting them to products when possible, making appropriate OTC recommendations, securing items that are out of reach, supporting their shopping experience in every possible way
  • Takes all required steps to fill prescriptions in compliance with laws, regulations, physician orders and company policies, including: retrieving accurate product(s), counting, pouring or measuring quantities per company procedures, affixing labels securely, performing a final audit before dispensing
  • Offers professional advice and patient consultation in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Actively participates in all clinical program offerings
  • Responds to phone inquiries requiring pharmacist expertise
  • Communicates and collaborates professionally with peers, staff, leaders, physicians and customers
  • Ensures timely implementation of company policies, procedures and programs
  • Enforces operational and professional standards
  • Maintains all federal and state recordkeeping requirements for controlled substances
  • Supervises pharmacy staff in accordance with federal and state law
  • Adheres to regulations regarding Medicare, Medicaid and third-party plans
  • Participates in audits in a timely manner
  • Ensures HIPAA compliance
  • Uses the pharmacy system to access patient records and verify third-party plan parameters
  • Orders product through approved sources as necessary
  • Stocks and rotates inventory according to company standards
  • Utilizes the RX return process
  • Trains pharmacy technicians in accordance with state regulations
  • Handles hazardous drugs in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Complies with all requirements related to hazardous drug handling and dispensing

Job Requirements:

  • Must have a college degree in Pharmacy (BS or PharmD) and hold a valid state license.
  • Meets all requirements of and maintains status as a Certified Immunizer
  • Must complete continuing education hours as required by state, federal and company training programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Scope:

  • Supervises all pharmacy staff in accordance with Federal and State law while working in the pharmacy
  • Provides feedback on pharmacy technician/clerk performance, and amplifies their professional understanding of their role in the pharmacy
  • Trains pharmacy technicians and abides by state regulations regarding technician training and licensure

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with color vision, depth perception and field of vision.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
  • Position may require periodic travel throughout assigned area by car.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
