Job description

Job Title: Senior Technical Project Manager

Location: Arnold AFB - Tullahoma, TN

Canvas is seeking a qualified individual to provide advisory and assistance services to the Air Force at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC). This may include serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, guiding project execution, optimizing operational workflows, and ensuring mission objectives are met efficiently. You will not just track tasks, but actively shape strategy, mitigate risks, and build capacity within the supported organization.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations to government stakeholders on project planning, resource allocation, and mission execution.
  • Review project lifecycles including schedules, milestones, and deliverables. Provide input and monitor project timelines.
  • Advise teammates on best practices in project management, operational planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary liaison between cross-functional teams, leadership, and external partners to ensure alignment and resolve operational bottlenecks.
  • Draft and present high-level briefings, decision memos, and situational reports to senior decision-makers.
  • Proactively identify project risks and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies to ensure uninterrupted mission support.
  • Participate in project status meetings/calls and provide meeting minutes.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of project activities, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Develop Independent Government Estimates (IGE).

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Education

  • Scientist and Engineer 3: BS in Science or Engineering Field OR substitution as described below
  • Scientist and Engineer 4: MS OR substitution as described below

Minimum Experience

  • Scientist and Engineer 3: 3-10 years of experience
  • Scientist and Engineer 4: 10+ years of experience

Substitutions:

  • A Bachelor's degree can be substituted with 6 years of relevant experience OR an Associates degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • A Master's can be substituted with 12 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's and 8 years of relevant experience.

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance with active investigation. Must be able to maintain required clearance. May begin work with an interim clearance.

Other Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to develop program plans and technical roadmaps.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team, demonstrate strong initiative, and organize tasking with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent people, organizational, management, computer, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and support product development in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment at a strategic level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Prior experience with government project management.
