Operations Manager - Agricultural Production (Weskan, KS)

Located in rural Weskan, Kansas, near the Colorado border, E & H Farms, Inc. is a third-generation family-owned farming operation that manages 17,000 acres of row-crop production, focusing on wheat, milo, corn, and pinto beans. Rooted in a strong agricultural tradition, our operation values stewardship of the land, long-term sustainability, and community involvement. Weskan is a close-knit, and school-centered rural community where agriculture drives both the economy and the lifestyle.

Join Our Team!

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee and lead all field operations and crop production activities. This is a hands-on leadership role with strategic responsibility, working closely with the Owner/GM, who will remain actively involved in the business. A one-year training and transition period is planned to ensure long-term success and alignment.

This position is ideal for a candidate looking to make a meaningful impact in a well-established farming operation while enjoying the benefits of rural living.

Why You'll Love This Role

As the Operations Manager, you will:

  • Lead and execute field operations, crop production, and equipment utilization strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Owner/GM on long-term planning, production goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and employee development.
  • Evaluate workforce efficiency and recommend staffing adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance schedules, capital investments, and technology upgrades.
  • Assess and approve major equipment purchases aligned with operational needs and budgets.
  • Monitor grain storage, facilities, and transportation logistics.
  • Review, refine, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Utilize farm management and data systems (e.g., Maintain X, AgVero, AGI Suretrack, Operations Center, Team Desk) to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Partner with leadership on annual budgets, labor planning, and ROI analysis.
  • Support safety training, compliance programs, and risk management protocols.
  • Provide weekly operational updates and lead end-of-season debriefs to identify improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Science, Farm Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in farm operations management or crop production.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience, including managing teams or supervisors.
  • Strong background in farm equipment operation, maintenance, and ag technology.
  • Proven ability in strategic planning, process improvement, and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of agricultural safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with farm data collection and management systems.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Class A CDL, Pesticide Applicator License, and safety certifications preferred.
  • Willingness to work long hours seasonally and operate in both office and field environments.
