About the Role

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading all ready-mix plant operations across North Carolina and South Carolina (through the Myrtle Beach market). Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for a network of 23 ready-mix plants producing approximately 600,000 cubic yards of concrete annually.


  • Lead all ready-mix plant operations across a 23-plant network serving North Carolina and South Carolina (through the Myrtle Beach market), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient execution while producing approximately 600,000 cubic yards annually.
  • Champion a culture where safety, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence are the highest priorities.
  • Drive operational excellence by implementing standardized processes, continuous improvement initiatives, and best practices that improve productivity, consistency, asset utilization, and cost performance.
  • Provide leadership for plant operations, production planning, staffing, and daily operational execution to maximize efficiency, quality, and customer service.
  • Partner closely with the Fleet Manager and Maintenance Manager to maximize fleet availability, equipment reliability, and overall operational performance while collaborating with the Commercial Director and Dispatch Manager to align production capacity and delivery execution with customer demand.
  • Develop and execute operating plans, budgets, and capital improvement priorities that support business objectives and long-term growth.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive accountability for safety, production, quality, operational efficiency, customer service, and financial performance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Area Operations Managers, Plant Managers, and frontline operational leaders while building organizational capability, employee engagement, and succession strength.
  • Partner with Quality Control, Technical Services, and Corporate functional leaders to ensure consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and the successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Lead capital projects and operational improvement initiatives while identifying and implementing technologies and best practices that enhance safety, productivity, quality, and overall business performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience within ready-mix concrete, aggregates, cement, construction materials, or a comparable industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed, multi-site operations with responsibility for safety, production, quality, and operational performance.
  • Proven ability to improve operational efficiency, customer service, asset utilization, and financial results.
  • Experience leading organizational change, continuous improvement initiatives, and developing high-performing teams.
