Job description

Goodwill Southeast Georgia is seeking a hands on Custodial Operations Manager to help lead custodial operations at contracted worksites. This role is ideal for a working supervisor or facilities leader who enjoys managing teams, maintaining high cleaning standards, and ensuring operational excellence.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Custodial Operations Manager provides daily on-site leadership to custodial teams, ensuring contract requirements are met while maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality service.

This role is both operational and people-focused. You will supervise and coach team members—including individuals with disabilities—while ensuring the worksite meets performance, safety, and quality standards.

Your Typical Day

No two days are exactly the same, but you can expect to:

Lead Custodial Operations

  • Provide on-site supervision of custodial teams at assigned contract locations
  • Ensure cleaning standards and contract requirements are consistently met
  • Inspect work areas to ensure quality, safety, and compliance
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and staffing coverage

Support & Develop Team Members

  • Train new employees in custodial procedures, safety practices, and equipment use
  • Coach team members to improve performance and productivity
  • Support employees with disabilities by providing guidance and accommodations when appropriate
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment

Maintain Safe & Efficient Operations

  • Monitor proper use and maintenance of custodial equipment
  • Ensure all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines are followed
  • Maintain supply inventory and coordinate ordering as needed
  • Respond to workplace incidents and complete required documentation

Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Approve daily timekeeping and maintain employee records
  • Monitor contract performance and report issues to the Operations Manager
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and operational planning
  • Support quality control initiatives to maintain high service standards

What You’ll Need

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, organized, and comfortable leading custodial teams in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of custodial or floor care experience
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment, chemicals, and cleaning procedures
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and MSDS
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Additional Qualifications That Help You Stand Out:

  • Experience supervising custodial teams at large facilities or contract sites

This role is active and hands-on. You should be comfortable:

  • Working in environments that may include heat, cold, or dusty conditions
  • Standing and moving for extended periods during an eight-hour shift
