We are searching for a talented Public Safety Officer I
Hours: 40hrs
Shift: Day shift, 6:45am - 3:15pm with weekend and holiday rotation
Location: Tobey Hospital - Wareham, MA

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Public Safety Operations Manager, Shift Supervisor or designee, this position performs all duties and responsibilities related to the day-to-day protection and security of Southcoast Health System (SHS) and Southcoast Hospitals Group (SHG) assets and information as well as the safety of all persons on hospital/SHS property. The incumbent Officer proactively guards against fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry to SHG grounds and/or buildings while controlling access points.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required, associates degree preferred.
  • Prior military, security, corrections, police, or relevant experience a plus.
  • May require obtaining Special Police/Constable powers within a designated municipality.
  • Over three months up to and including one year of experience is required.
  • A valid Drivers License is required.
  • Must have, or have the ability to obtain within a six month to one-year period, a Massachusetts Fire Arms Identification Card, and License to Carry Firearms (Pistol Permit).
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) De-Escalation Training; OC Pepper (OCAT), Handcuffing (PATH), Baton (PPBT) education and training within 120 days of hire.
  • BLS, CPR and First Responder certification required within 120 days of hire.
  • Is eligible to obtain appointment as a special police officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under MGL c.22C Section 63 or as a New Bedford Special Police Officer under city/NBPD requirements.
  • Must obtain International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification within one year of appointment.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
