Job description

The Safety-Kleen Canada Inc. branch located in Nepean, ON,  is looking for a Driver Apprentice / Laborer to join its safety-conscious team! The candidate will be trained in the handling and transport of hazardous materials.  This training will cover working with a tanker truck to serve our customers, assisting in the warehouse, and operating the vacuum truck.  The training is comprehensive, provided, and paid, and includes training to obtain a Class 3 license if you do not already have one.  You will also be trained in various other tasks, offering you a great career opportunity in the environmental sector.

  • Responsible for learning how to transport hazardous waste (using a vacuum truck or 26-foot box truck) from the customer's site to the warehouse in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations 
  • Responsible for learning how to properly load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste (i.e., ensuring barrels are correctly sorted and loaded, etc.); adhering to weight limits and ensuring the proper use of company equipment.
  • Responsible for learning how to properly affix placards to the vehicle to comply with company and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and regulations. 
  • Responsible for learning how to maintain daily logs, dispatch and trip reports, as well as vehicle inspection reports.
  • Responsible for learning how to verify the mechanical condition and proper functioning of this equipment.
  • May be assigned additional duties not listed above as needed by the company.
