Maintenance Electrician – High Voltage / Critical Power Systems

Located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Barker, NY, our rapidly expanding campus relies on highly skilled electrical professionals to ensure continuous, safe, and reliable operation of mission-critical power systems.

We are seeking Operations & Maintenance Technicians with strong electrical experience in high-voltage and critical power environments.

This role is ideal for electricians, electrical technicians, power distribution specialists, and industrial maintenance professionals who enjoy troubleshooting complex systems, solving real-world challenges, and preventing downtime in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems ranging from 480V to 70kV.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain medium- and high-voltage switchgear, breakers, relays, and protective devices.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on high-voltage transformers, including inspections, testing, and diagnostics.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems and backup power infrastructure supporting critical data center operations.
  • Conduct predictive and preventative maintenance activities including thermal imaging, insulation resistance testing, and relay testing.
  • Support and perform safe electrical switching operations on critical power systems.
  • Troubleshoot motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Respond to equipment failures and emergency situations to minimize downtime.
  • Execute and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all electrical safety requirements.
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance within maintenance management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and NEC requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical training, trade school, or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent industrial electrical experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Electrical power distribution systems
    • Medium- and high-voltage switchgear
    • UPS and backup power systems
    • Transformers, substations, and critical electrical infrastructure
  • Ability to safely work around high-energy electrical systems and energized equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, emergency response, and shift coverage as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within data centers, utilities, power generation, industrial manufacturing, or critical facilities environments.
  • High-voltage switching or substation maintenance certification.
  • NFPA 70E, OSHA 10, or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, power monitoring platforms, and building automation systems.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical operations with strict uptime requirements.
