Job description

Surgical First Assistant Lead - Colorectal - 360050

The Team Lead is a responsible member of the OR Leadership team who uses available resources to meet physician and customer needs. Role reflects a balance between management and clinical practice. Works with OR Supervisor/Director to promote a team environment and maintains good communication with Director, Supervisor, Surgeons and Staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Under the direction of the Peri-op Services Director/OR RN Lead/Charge Nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior, during and after any surgical procedure.
  • As the lead First Assist for a service line, provides leadership, education, direction, support and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service.
  • Includes care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times and inventory management.
  • Daily collaboration with OR RN Lead.
  • Is a mentor/coach for orientees within that service line.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Graduation from accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or School of Surgical Technology required

Experience

  • 2 years of Surgical Tech experience required

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • BLS required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant required
  • ACLS preferred

Work Schedule:

8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday
