Program:  HELP Webster Ave |3300 Webster Ave, Bronx, NY 10467

What You’ll Do

If you want to help struggling and vulnerable adults, this could be a great opportunity for you. Webster Ave., located in the Bronx, New York, is a shelter for single adult women. As Director of Operations, you’ll report to the Executive Director and oversee daily operations, including outsourced security, maintenance (which is provided by the building owner), and a team of House Managers and Residential Aides.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the House Manager/Residential Aide team, who are responsible for conducting and documenting in CARES initial intakes for new clients, familiarizing clients with the site and program, resolving client concerns, and conducting regular inspections of both public spaces and client units.

  • Recruiting, hiring, and training staff and developing your team by communicating clear expectations and priorities for job performance, providing ongoing feedback and guidance through regular individual supervision sessions, setting team goals and values, and holding regular team meetings.

  • Directing the day-to-day activities of the contracted security staff, ensuring that appropriate staffing is provided, and resolving any issues with security staff assigned to the shelter.

  • Functioning as On-Call Administrator – responding to emergencies and working weekends and night hours as needed.

  • Reviewing and advising on all safety-related policies and procedures and correcting all violations and potential safety hazards.

  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and timely preparation of incident reports, monthly reports, and any other required documentation.

  • Serving as liaison with local Police, Fire, and other emergency agencies.

  • Interfacing with building management on any maintenance issues that arise to ensure our clients are provided with a clean and safe environment.

You’re a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Current New York State Security Guard License required.
  • FDNY F-80 and F-02 certification.

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience and skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in facility operations and supervision of facility operations staff.

  • Minimum of five years of managerial experience.

  • Prior experience and/or demonstrated skills in social services operations and the ability to integrate facility social service program operations are preferred.

  • Valid US Driver’s license required.
