The Senior Operations Manager directs the development and implementation of activities in production areas to meet production goals, as well as cost and quality targets. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of design and production, program management skills, proven strategic planning and business execution capabilities, as well as ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines. The position will be a key leadership role responsible for enabling production and revenue targets. In addition, this person prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations regarding and controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic plans and objectives in accordance with overall company strategy.

  • Make final decisions on administrative or operational matters.

  • Influence Customer and Senior Leadership Team via verbal or in-person presentations.

  • Maintain budgets, productivity, efficiency, and quality.

  • Manage capacity and resource planning, material planning, budgeting and capital investment plan and projects.

  • Ensure all products delivered meet customer requirements in terms of schedule and quality.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts and having the mindset of continuous improvement along with ability to drive this as the culture.

  • Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement investments in technology, equipment or systems that will enhance the plant's production capabilities to optimize production, improve efficiency and reduce conversion cost.

  • Taking full ownership of their responsible area by driving and steering everything needed to get product out the door meeting all Safety, Quality, Cost and Volume targets.

  • Will drive all plant metrics for their operational area which will include various KPI's in Quality, Safety, Cost, Volume.

  • Complete ownership of all safety within their department.

  • Team building of direct reports along with hourly team.

  • Ensuring the scheduling of customer orders is level loaded and properly planned with all material, personnel and other necessary resources prior to an order being scheduled.

  • Multi-tasking of multiple projects along with the day-to-day operational requirements. Will participate with various support functions (quality, manufacturing engineering, scheduling, buying, R&D) ensuring all these functions work together in order that the operational area meets all targets.

  • Create operating rhythm and drive communication and recognition at all levels in the plant to be consistent with the business strategy.

  • Direct, often in innovative ways, the resolution of highly complex or unusual business issues that may cross functional or department lines.

  • Anticipate and communicate actionable business data to ensure continuous process improvements and waste reduction with measurable financial results.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field

  • 8+ years of proven direct, operational leadership experience required, including significant experience managing hourly personnel

  • Experience implementing Lean/six sigma continuous improvement methodologies and principles.

  • Experience with semi-automated or fully automated production lines

  • Planning, forecasting, and budgeting experience

  • Strong root cause analysis skillset. Can quickly develop action plans to address problems.

  • Hands-on experience of managing complex and inter-related manufacturing operations

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • MBA
  • Working with a world-renowned operating system (i.e., DBS, HOS, etc.)
  • 5S/6S, Lean certifications

Travel:1 - 10%
