    Office Assistant I
    Office Assistant / Fingerprinting Technician

    The Part-Time Office Assistant / Fingerprinting Technician supports daily office operations while providing professional fingerprinting and customer service. This position is responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient office, assisting applicants and customers, processing fingerprinting services, and providing general administrative support.

    The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, organized, detail-oriented, and customer-service focused. The ability to maintain confidentiality, follow established procedures, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities is essential.

    Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Office Support
    • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, applicants, and customers, providing professional and courteous assistance.
    • Answer and direct telephone calls, take messages, and provide general information.
    • Provide administrative support to management and staff, including preparing documents, filing, distributing mail, and maintaining records.
    • Maintain accurate and organized office files, applications, records, and documentation.
    • Assist with scheduling appointments and maintaining customer records.
    • Monitor office supplies and equipment and notify management when supplies need replenishment or service.
    • Maintain common office areas to ensure a clean, organized, and professional environment.
    • Operate computers, copiers, scanners, printers, multi-line phone systems, and other standard office equipment.
    • Prepare and format letters, forms, memos, reports, and other correspondence as needed.
    • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
    Fingerprinting & Customer Service
    • Obtain and maintain a Maryland State Fingerprinting Technician License as required by CJIS.
    • Perform Maryland CJIS LiveScan and ink fingerprinting services in accordance with applicable requirements and company procedures.
    • Verify customer identification and ensure fingerprinting applications and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
    • Prepare, organize, and maintain applications and files associated with fingerprinting services.
    • Capture and process passport photographs.
    • Provide customers with clear instructions regarding fingerprinting and related services.
    • Maintain the confidentiality and security of customer information and records.
    • Process customer transactions, including cash, credit, and debit payments.
    • Ensure fingerprinting equipment and work areas are properly maintained and ready for service.
    • Follow all applicable CJIS, privacy, security, and company procedures.
    • Provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service.
    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy office environment.
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
    • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to learn and operate fingerprinting, payment processing, scheduling, and office technology.
    Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Associate degree or higher preferred.
    • Previous administrative, clerical, customer service, or office experience preferred.
    • Previous experience with fingerprinting, LiveScan, background screening, or related areas is a plus.
    Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
    • Ability to stand and walk periodically while assisting customers.
    • Ability to operate fingerprinting and standard office equipment.
    • Ability to maintain a professional work environment throughout the workday.
