Head of Operations & Logistics

Job description

At Replenysh we're looking for a Head of Operations & Logistics to join our team.

Replenysh is building the infrastructure layer for circular supply chains. We connect sortation centers, recycling centers, processors, brands, and carriers into a single operational platform - turning fragmented recycling transactions into structured, trackable commerce.

We are scaling quickly and need an operational leader who can both run the engine today and build the machine for tomorrow.

About the job

We are hiring a Head of Operations & Logistics to own and scale our order execution engine. This person will be responsible for ensuring that every transaction across our network - between sellers, buyers, and carriers - is executed accurately, profitably, and on time.

This is not a purely strategic role. You will initially run the system yourself while managing a small team (2 direct reports), and then level up the function over time. You will manage a 2-person team upon joining and have full ownership to assess, retain, upgrade, or restructure the team as needed.

Over time, you will build the operations organization as volume scales.

You must be equally comfortable
  • Negotiating pricing on the phone
  • Solving a broken pickup at 6am
  • Auditing weight tickets
  • Designing scalable SOPs
  • Partnering with product to automate workflows
  • Managing and upgrading talent

If you are looking to manage dashboards instead of operations, this role is not for you.

What You’ll Own 1. Order Execution & Network Operations
  • Oversee and execute transactions between sortation centers, recycling centers, and processors
  • Match supply with buyers
  • Confirm pricing and terms
  • Lock pickup and delivery logistics
  • Secure carriers when needed
  • Ensure proper documentation (weight tickets, confirmations, reconciliation)
  • Close the loop with finance for invoicing and payouts
2. Exception Management
  • Resolve disputes (weight discrepancies, contamination, pricing)
  • Manage late or failed pickups
  • Protect margin during operational breakdowns
  • Escalate appropriately when needed
  • Maintain strong external relationships while enforcing accountability
3. Carrier Network Optimization
  • Build and manage a high-performing carrier network
  • Negotiate competitive rates
  • Track performance (on-time %, reliability, cost per haul)
  • Reduce transportation cost without sacrificing reliability
4. Operational Integrity & Audit
  • Ensure orders are entered correctly and updated accurately in our system
  • Audit transactions to prevent leakage
  • Ensure actual execution matches contracted terms
  • Improve data accuracy across the order lifecycle
5. Build for Scale
  • Identify repeatable workflows and bottlenecks
  • Develop SOPs and internal playbooks
  • Partner with Product to automate manual processes
  • Inform roadmap based on operational pain points
  • Build dashboards and performance tracking
  • Hire, coach, and develop a high-performance operations team
Why This Role Matters

Operations is the backbone of our platform. If this function fails, the business fails. If it scales, we unlock leverage, margin, and defensibility. This role has a clear path to broader operational or GM-level ownership as the company grows.

About you

We are looking for a builder-operator with high-agency and strong commercial instincts.

Required Experience
  • 7-12+ years in operations, logistics, supply chain, network or marketplace operations
  • Experience managing real-time, multi-party transactions
  • Experience negotiating with carriers, vendors, or suppliers
  • Experience managing and developing teams
  • Experience building a process from scratch (not just inheriting it)
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in a marketplace business (e.g., freight, logistics tech, supply-demand platforms)
  • Experience in recycling, commodities, brokerage, or 3PL environments
  • Experience working closely with product teams to automate operational workflows
  • P&L or margin ownership experience
What We’re Looking For in You
  • Strong bias for action
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Hands-on leader — willing to run orders yourself
  • Structured problem solver
  • Excellent communicator (externally and internally)
  • Commercially minded — you understand margin and cost control
  • High accountability
  • Calm under pressure
  • Strong judgment on when to escalates vs. resolve independently
