The Cross Domain Warfare Analysis Portfolio (CDWP), within the Sea, Land, & Air Analysis Group in SPA, conducts rigorous and objective analyses to enable the Navy and other DoW organizations to make decisions on warfighting capabilities. CDWP focuses on the challenges associated with integrated warfighting capability across multiple domains, from seabed to space. The team combines experienced military professionals, operations research analysts, and technology development & experimentation experts using quantitative and qualitative methods, models, and analysis tools. CDWP's experience, technical expertise, and analytic assessments help our clients identify warfighting gaps, set requirements, and develop the integrated and cross-domain warfighting solutions that our military will need to win. We support a range of clients including Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Navy Information Warfare Center/Pacific (NIWC/PAC), and the Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO).
SPA has an immediate need for a Surface Warfare Military Operations Analyst. This full-time position is based in Alexandria, Virginia. #KS
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for 1) Developing innovative concepts of operations and capability plans, and for translating them into detailed written and graphical descriptions used to develop and support tactical, operational, and strategic warfare analysis, 2) Conducting military effectiveness analysis of alternatives to inform the development of formal requirements and program plans across the spectrum of science and technology (S&T), research and development (R&D), and program acquisition, and 3) Supporting and eventually take a leading role in the development and employment of modeling and simulation analysis tools and in briefing analysis results to top-level government decision makers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Qualified Surface Warfare Officer with 3-5 years of operational surface warfare experience on a cruiser or destroyer
  • Operational experience in Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW), or Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) mission areas
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or other relevant field (such as national security studies, political science, or military history)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability and willingness to multi-task, and capable of professionally addressing client questions and issues
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience as a qualified Tactical Action Officer
  • Department Head tour on an operational cruiser or destroyer
  • Experience directly interacting with, briefing, and advising DoD or armed service decision makers
  • Demonstrated familiarity with operations analysis, modeling and simulation, or other advanced analytical techniques
