The primary role of this position is to manage the General Accounting and Reporting functions within the Commercial Bank's Finance department. This involves managing the preparation of all closing journal entries, the research and resolution of associated account reconciliations items, the publication of monthly financial reporting packages, and the consolidation and submission of the long-range financial plan.

The candidate must possess a strong work ethic, established accounting and financial reporting experience, and an ability to manage cross functional business interactions necessary to prepare complex accounting entries. Additionally, the candidate must be details oriented and be motivated by success. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in financial services, particularly in the Commercial banking space. It is also critical that this person is adapt at managing through rapidly changing and evolving priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and posting of monthly general ledger entries including expense accruals, prepaid deferrals and amortizations, and reclass entries to enable accurate segment profitability and GAAP reporting.

  • Manage general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations and reviews, ensuring variances are resolved in a timely manner in partnership with cross functional stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines.

  • Direct account reconciliations efforts and lead research and resolution of outstanding reconciliation items in coordination with cross functional team members as necessary, including operations and accounts payable.

  • Manage general ledger system maintenance, including account and cost center setup, hierarchy changes, and cost center closure as needed in coordination with accounting system owners.

  • Manage consolidation, submission, and reporting of annual financial budgets.

  • Develop standardization of monthly and quarterly financial reporting templates for cross team and business line leverage in monthly and quarterly reporting efforts.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on the quality and correctness of system reports produced for internal, external, and regulatory reporting needs.

  • Oversee effective internal controls over core lines of business accounting and reporting activities in support of Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

Educations, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.

  • Minimum of four to seven years of applicable work experience in accounting or auditing.

  • CPA licensed or CPA candidate preferred.

  • At least 3 years of experience in public accounting preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Oracle EPM preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and innovatively.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $97,000 USD to $105,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
