The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The COO provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership, ensuring the effective and efficient management of internal operations. The COO will serve as a mission-aligned leader with experience in scaling operations, managing cross-functional teams, and driving impact in a nonprofit environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the organization's mission and goals; translate strategy into actionable objectives across departments and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO on organizational growth, partnerships, and program expansion initiatives.
Provides direct supervision to professional staff.
Oversee day-to-day internal operations, including human resources, IT, facilities, budget administration, procurement, data collection and analysis, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve systems, policies, and processes to enhance efficiency, accountability, scalability, and organizational effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including protection of intellectual property and covered programs.
In partnership with Finance, manage and oversee multimillion-dollar budgets, ensuring strong financial controls, long-term sustainability, and fiscal accountability.
Lead annual departmental budgeting and forecasting processes in coordination with program and development leadership; monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Support program teams in evaluating and strengthening program delivery, outcomes, and overall impact through implementation of performance metrics and data-informed decision-making practices.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and measurable impact across the organization.
Partner with the Office of Human Resources in workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, staff development, employee engagement, and retention.
Cultivate a vibrant and mission-driven organizational culture that supports professional growth and high performance.
Identify, assess, and mitigate organizational risks; ensure infrastructure, systems, policies, and technology effectively support current operations and future growth.
Lead crisis response planning and business continuity efforts to safeguard organizational stability and resilience.
Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or related field.
Ten (10) Years' progressively responsible leadership experience in organizational operations.

Employment in this position is contingent upon an annual employment contract, in accordance with institutional requirements.

Schedule Designation:
Typically, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work after-hours and/or weekends.
