The Role:

In Business Cards and Payments, we're on a mission to pave the path for businesses to do more business! In the BC&P Operating Office, we focus on serving as the operational engine enabling alignment, velocity, and resilience across the organization at all levels. The BC&P Operating Office is made up of 3 pillars: Strategic Operations, Organizational Operations and Top of House Operations. This particular role sits on our Organizational Operations team and is responsible for managing horizontal functions within the Well Managed Team.

As a Principal Risk Associate of the Well Managed Risk Insights Team, you'll be responsible for delivering structured reporting to Business Executives, as well as developing data-driven insights to inform strategic risk management decisions and practices. The Principal Risk Associate will also support other key risk reporting / analytical activities (weekly email communications, complaints analysis, risk identification and aggregation, metric governance and curation) to enhance the clarity and effectiveness of the Company's operational risk profile. Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with strong communication skills and analytical expertise. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the company

Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of our process, standards, and procedures across weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting (enterprise operational risk reports, metric collection, risk appetite, etc.)

  • Support end to end metric governance processes, including metric curation, metric maturity and suitability assessments, and executive reporting

  • Support audits, exams, and assessments with operational risk reporting impact

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationship stakeholders at all levels across BC&P

  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities using problem-solving and analysis skills

  • Gain a deep understanding of corporate risk management standards and utilize all Risk Management tools, playbooks and systems

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in risk management, compliance or audit

  • At least 2 years of experience in governance, process management or project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • Financial Services experience

  • 4+ years of experience in risk management, compliance and audit

  • Experience with data analysis, reporting to senior leadership, and implementing KRI/KPI/Thresholds

  • Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)

  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management or Project Management Certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York, NY: $131,800 - $150,500 for Principal Risk Specialist


Plano, TX: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist


Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist








Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
