Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking our Next Risk Manager!
As the Risk Manager on the NISSC 3 program, you will lead the identification, assessment, tracking, and reporting of program risks, issues, and opportunities. You will develop and drive mitigation strategies, maintain risk management artifacts, and ensure leadership has clear, timely insight into risk posture across the program.
Responsibilities
• Run risk working groups, facilitate discussions with technical and program stakeholders, and ensure risks are communicated, documented, and managed effectively. This role also leverages strong quality assurance/quality control experience to ensure risk and quality practices are aligned in a service-based, mission-critical environment.
Proactively identify, analyze, and assess program risks, issues, and opportunities across technical, schedule, cost, and performance dimensions.
• Develop, document, and track risk mitigation and contingency strategies; monitor effectiveness and adjust as needed.
• Maintain and update risk registers and other risk management artifacts in accordance with program and organizational standards.
• Develop and deliver risk management plans, status reports, and briefings for program and government leadership.
• Plan and facilitate recurring risk working groups and risk review meetings; drive action item closure and decision-making.
• Ensure risks, issues, and opportunities are clearly communicated and addressed in a timely, effective manner.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineering, cybersecurity, QA, and logistics personnel to integrate risk management into daily operations.
• Apply quality assurance and quality control principles to risk-related processes, ensuring consistency, traceability, and audit readiness.
• Support continuous improvement of risk and quality management processes, tools, and metrics.
Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • Significant experience (senior level) in risk management for complex programs, preferably in DoD, cyber, or systems/IT environments.
    Demonstrated expertise in proactively identifying, assessing, and tracking risks, issues, and opportunities.
    Experience developing and implementing mitigation strategies and monitoring their effectiveness.
    Experience planning and conducting risk management meetings (e.g., risk working groups) and preparing detailed risk reports and briefings.
    Expertise in all major aspects of quality assurance and quality control, with substantial experience leading and supporting quality activities in a service-based environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following (or closely related field):
    • Information Technology (IT)
    • Cybersecurity
    • Computer Science (CS)
    • Information Systems (IS)
    • Data Science
    • Software Engineering
    • OR equivalent DoD/Military training and experience in risk management, cybersecurity, QA/QC, or related field.
  • Active Secret clearance at time of hire.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI as required by the program.
  • Holds a qualifying CSSP certification (in accordance with DoD 8140/8570 for the appropriate role category).

Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $116,200.00/Yr. - USD $194,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
