Job description

Overview
The Contract / Risk Analyst is responsible for reviewing contracts, subcontracts, and related project documents to identify risk exposure and support sound business decisions across company operations. This role works closely with executive leadership and project teams to evaluate contractual, insurance, liability, and compliance matters, while maintaining risk documentation and supporting claims, change orders, and dispute-related processes. The Contract / Risk Analyst plays a key role in helping the company reduce risk, improve contract compliance, and support successful project execution.
Location & Travel Details:
This is an onsite position based in Dallas, Texas, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President. Occasional travel to project sites and company offices may be required to support contract reviews, risk assessments, claims documentation, and collaboration with project and leadership teams. This role provides the opportunity to support contract compliance and enterprise risk management across a growing water and wastewater infrastructure contractor.

Responsibilities
  • Review contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, land use agreements, surplus material agreements, settlement agreements, and other legal or commercial documents for risk exposure.
  • Analyze indemnity, insurance, liability, and other commercial provisions to identify areas of concern and recommend risk mitigation measures.
  • Prepare contract review summaries, risk memos, and related documentation for executive leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Support the review and documentation of claims, change orders, disputes, and other contract-related matters.
  • Maintain contract logs, risk registers, subcontract exception logs, and other risk tracking tools.
  • Track compliance with contractual requirements, insurance requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Advise project teams on contractual obligations, risk issues, and documentation requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Vice President and other internal stakeholders on contract language, risk exposure, and recommended actions.
  • Review and support pre-bid contract risk assessments to identify key commercial and legal concerns before project pursuit.
  • Assist in developing standardized processes, templates, and internal controls related to contract review and risk management.
  • Support internal communication regarding high-risk provisions and escalate material concerns when appropriate.
  • Help ensure that contract records and risk documentation are accurate, complete, and maintained in an organized manner.

Qualifications
Work Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Risk Management, Legal Studies, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in contract administration, risk analysis, construction contracts, legal support, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts, subcontract terms, insurance provisions, indemnity clauses, and change order processes.
  • Ability to identify commercial risk and communicate concerns clearly to project and executive teams.
  • Experience supporting claims documentation, dispute files, contract logs, and compliance tracking preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review complex documents with accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare summaries and recommendations for leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and document tracking systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain organized records in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with construction operations, project delivery processes, and regulatory compliance requirements is a plus.
