The Bulk Project Manager will play a significant role in the growth of Airgas South Region's bulk and microbulk business through the design and installation of industrial and medical gas systems. The Project manager will be responsible for project management of bulk and microbulk systems from design to commissioning while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and reliability. The project manager will apply tools and techniques to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role will also provide technical support to operations and sales personnel.
The Bulk Project Manager works with the Regional Field Service Manager to prepare comprehensive action plans, for installations and removals, for all bulk related activities in the Region, all within project completion timeframes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all elements of the projects managed satisfy Airgas' health, environment and safety standards
  • Responsible for the development and management for the Region's bulk and microbulk projects, including:
  • Design & system sizing
  • System estimates and budget
  • Creation of engineering document packages for installations including P&IDs, layout drawings, BOM, customer infrastructure package, etc.
  • Communication with customers, internal and external
  • Installation and commissioning of Air Gas systems
  • Leads opportunity development in collaboration with sales teams
  • Builds Airgas offering according to budgetary constraints, HSE policies, and local codes
  • Defines with the sales team the value-add to the customer
  • Proposes technical solutions to customers in order to solve technical hurdles
  • Provide inputs to the Process execution and quality plan
  • Prepare information for drafting of PFD's and PID's with Process Engineers inputs.
  • Prepare the Line List and coordinates with the engineering disciplines in order to finalize it.
  • Ensure all comments from engineering disciplines are consistent, understood and correctly represented in the PID's in cooperation with Process Engineers.
  • Issue PID's, Line List and related documents according to project schedule.
  • Ensure the correct application of operational methods, E&C standards of quality, applicable codes and project & industry standards.
  • Implement and maintain records of all revisions on the Project Master.
  • Manage interfaces with engineering disciplines, process and design team(s).

Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in engineering, industrial operations or maintenance management to include demonstrated experience working in a leadership position. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regional travel (25% of the work time) occasionally requires overnight travel.
  • Requires a current driver's license

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering or science related degree field is preferred.
  • Prior industry experience in gas, compressed/welding gases, or related industrial setting and/or prior cryogenic maintenance and installation experience.
