Job description

Position Summary...The Director, Marketplace Sales Strategy, Business Insights & Analytics will serve as a strategic leader for Marketplace Seller Acquisition, responsible for shaping business direction, building scalable operating capabilities, and translating data, technology, and AI into measurable business outcomes. What you'll do...This leader will define how Seller Acquisition measures, understands, and scales the business, developing insights, tools, and operating mechanisms that improve sales productivity, accelerate seller growth, and enable faster, better decision-making. The role will also establish frameworks and best practices that can scale beyond the U.S. to support a more consistent global Marketplace view. A successful candidate is a strategic and creative thinker who thrives in ambiguity, develops strong points of view, and uses data and business judgment to influence senior leadership. This leader will inspire teams and partners around new opportunities, challenge existing ways of working, and translate ideas into action across Sales, Product, Technology, Finance, Analytics, and international teams. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Shape business strategy: Identify emerging opportunities, performance gaps, and future business needs; develop data-backed recommendations and influence senior leadership on priorities, investments, and direction.
  • Scale globally: Build analytics, KPIs, operating frameworks, and best practices that provide consistent views of performance and can scale across Marketplace markets and international teams.
  • Drive AI transformation: Embed AI and automation into daily workflows, analytics, seller prioritization, forecasting, reporting, and decision-making to increase productivity and organizational capacity.
  • Own business intelligence: Establish the strategy for dashboards, scorecards, executive reporting, and ad hoc business reviews that move the organization from reporting performance to identifying insights and driving action.
  • Enable sales teams: Develop scalable tools, insights, seller segmentation, prioritization frameworks, playbooks, and self-service capabilities that improve sales effectiveness and allow teams to focus on the highest-value opportunities.
  • Build operating mechanisms: Establish scalable business reviews, performance-management processes, and decision frameworks that create accountability, accelerate execution, and support growth without proportional increases in resources.
  • Drive innovation: Challenge conventional thinking, anticipate what the business will need next, and champion new ideas and strategic positions with the passion and conviction required to build leadership alignment.
  • Lead through influence: Partner across Marketplace, Sales, Product, Technology, Data Science, Finance, and international teams to align priorities and translate strategy into measurable results.
  • Develop high-performing teams: Build a culture of curiosity, ownership, innovation, and strategic thinking where teams are expected not only to answer business questions, but to identify the questions the organization should be asking.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Analytics, Statistics, Technology, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, sales operations, analytics, eCommerce, technology, or related disciplines, including significant leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to influence senior and executive leadership through data, insights, and compelling strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience building scalable analytics, business intelligence, operating mechanisms, or sales enablement capabilities.
  • Experience applying AI, automation, or advanced analytics to improve business decision-making and productivity.
  • Strong business, financial, analytical, and communication skills with demonstrated success leading through ambiguity and across highly cross-functional organizations.
  • Experience with Marketplace, eCommerce, sales, global operations, SQL, Salesforce, and BI platforms such as Looker or Tableau preferred.
