Position Summary
The Senior DatabaseAdministrator will coordinate and perform the duties for implementation,maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problemresolution, and user assistance required of the UI Health databaseenvironments. This position is expected to establish and provide oversight forvarious databases to ensure optimum performance, reliability, recoverability,and stability across Production, Test, and QA environments.  Senior Database Administrators are directlyresponsible for providing database availability within UI Health definedperformance goals.

Responsible foradministering and supporting database platforms across development, test,training, and production environments. Demonstrates strong knowledge ofdatabase architecture, data management, and Microsoft technologies, withextensive experience supporting Windows Server-based enterprise systems.Specific responsibilities include administering Microsoft SQL Serverenvironments (2012/2014/2016/2019/2022 and Azure SQL), implementing andmaintaining High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions such asAlways On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, backupand recovery, performance tuning, security management, and database monitoring.Experience supporting data integration, ETL processes, and interoperabilitywith Microsoft technologies including Azure, Active Directory, PowerShell,Datadog, and Microsoft data platforms to ensure reliable and secure businessoperations.

Thisperson will work with a cross-section of internal IT personnel, vendors and themanagement team to coordinate delivery of database functions. This individualwill also participate in on-call support functions as well as disaster recoveryexecution as applicable.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor database environments for continual availability, high performance, and security.
  • Lead in the design, development and implementation of infrastructure for database high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Identify process improvements, automate deployment tasks, and promote innovative solutions to common business tasks.
  • Develop custom scripts to automate various database management processes.
  • Assist in defining and enforcing database standards, best practices, methodologies, processes and procedures.
  • Design and develop reports and handle ad-hoc data requests.
  • Install, configure, and integrate third party applications and tools as needed.
  • Manage problems and problem escalations in accordance with ITIL standards.
  • Develop and manage projects and project plans.
  • Manages license and hardware life cycle with technology refresh schedule.
  • Provide support to critical production systems on Campus.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
  • Troubleshoot database and application errors.
  • On-call 24x7 operational support.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
