The Investment Operations - Private team at Oaktree Capital Management is a middle office team focused on private investments that seeks to serve as the central hub for the private investment lifecycle. Role Summary
The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for executing and supporting operational activities within the private credit deal lifecycle, and will have a strong understanding of the processes, documentation, data management, and counterparty communication required to execute transactions and administer assets post-close. The candidate will work closely with investment professionals, legal and compliance, accounting and tax, technology, and reporting teams.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a key member of a dedicated middle office team that serves as a hub for private deals and facilitates private deal closing activities
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure accurate and efficient deal fundings, asset set up, investment monitoring and reporting accuracy
  • Review private deal pipeline on a regular basis to ensure that all deals are tracked in a timely manner
  • Analyze legal documents, such as credit agreements and fee letters, to identify critical terms for each private deal
  • Assist in managing all banking, custodian and facility relationships across the credit platform
  • Oversee outside stakeholder reporting and communication with banks, rating agencies, co-investors, auditors, or other parties
  • Develop a complete understanding of the roles and responsibilities, systems and processes across each internal functional group, and serve as a central point of contact between the Investment Team and the back office.
  • Partner with investment professionals, outside and internal counsel, tax, accounting and compliance professionals to ensure good cross-functional communication and coordination throughout the investment process.
  • Participate in developing and documenting operational policies, procedures and controls
  • Ensure proper operational procedures and controls are followed and maintained, with appropriate escalation to stakeholders
  • Support document management for private credit deals
  • Analyze process issues and bottlenecks to make improvements
  • Assist in process improvements and automation as well as the development of longer-term systemic solutions

Qualifications
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience working in an operations capacity at an asset management company, investment bank or other financial services company
  • 1+ years of experience in private credit investment operations and middle-office support, including experience reviewing private credit documents (credit agreements, amendments, etc.) for key terms, data points and operational nuances
  • Strong knowledge of private credit fund concepts across a range of strategies, including corporate direct lending. Extensive knowledge of BSL market is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of general finance, process documentation and cross functional operations
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to manage tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, while independently driving projects to completion

Base Salary Range
$165,000 - $195,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
