Job description

About the Position: Serve as a Maintenance Worker for the project office to which assigned. The maintenance staff operate and maintain one or more flood control dams.
Relocation and recruitment incentives may be offered to highly qualified candidates. On-site government housing may be available.Qualifications:Who May Apply: US Citizens
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-05: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have experience performing common maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-07: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have performed common maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-08: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have experience as a maintenance worker performing common dam operation, maintenance inspection and repair work on a continuing basis on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property at park and flood control dam facilities under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress to ensure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort
  • Uses moderate physical effort to stack, load, unload, move and carry tools, equipment and materials ranging in weight from 10 pounds to 50 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts heavier objects with assistance (e.g., using a hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works in cramped quarters, or from ladders, scaffolds or platforms.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes. Occasionally is required to wear uncomfortable protective clothing.
Education:Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.Employment Type: OTHER
