Job description

Ascent Resources is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist. This position is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and will report to the Manager - Geoscience.
This position will be responsible for the interpretation and analysis of various kinds of geological data and make recommendations to management, based on that analysis.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Correlate formations from well logs and create cross-sections
  • Construct reservoir property maps from well data
  • Overall geological analysis and prospectivity of properties
  • Provide technical support and recommendations for drilling, completion, and production operations
  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines to integrate geological analysis into projects
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to management and stakeholders
  • Other duties assigned as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum Requirements:
  • Comprehensive understanding of geological principles associated with petroleum exploration
  • Considerable experience with unconventional petroleum exploration
  • Extensive experience and expertise with geological interpretation software
  • Firm understanding of petrophysical principles and analysis associated with wireline logs and cores
  • Understanding of drilling and production operations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required
  • Must be able to present highly technical information in a concise and clear manner to upper management
  • Experience incorporating seismic data into a geological interpretation
Preferred:
  • GeoGraphix software experience
  • Kingdom software experience
  • Experience with geosteering and well planning logistics
  • Proficiency in Spotfire or Power BI
  • Field operations geology: mudlogging or wireline
  • Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning applications in geology
Education & Work Experience Required
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Geology or Geosciences
  • 10+ years of experience in geological evaluations within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with unconventional reservoir evaluation and development
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning applications in Geology
  • Proficient in the application of GIS software technology and geostatistics in petroleum geoscience
