Assistant Head Nurse – Operating Room Location: Greater Montreal area Start date: Immediate • Full-time / Part-time – Variable shift Salary: Up to $65/contract plus other benefits (bonuses, transportation reimbursement, continuing education plan, etc.) About the position: As part of the ongoing development of our operating suite, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Head Nurse. This key role directly contributes to the quality and safety of patient care, while supporting a team of healthcare professionals in a stimulating surgical environment. Main responsibilities: Leadership and team management Leading and inspiring a team of healthcare professionals Develop and implement innovative clinical protocols and procedures Promote continuous improvement in patient care and operational efficiency Managing staff schedules and resource allocation Create a positive and collaborative work environment Clinical excellence: Oversee all aspects of perioperative care Ensuring compliance with professional standards and best practices Managing medication protocols and safety measures Leading infection prevention and control initiatives Supervise the sterilization and reprocessing of medical devices Quality and safety: Managing accreditation activities with Accreditation Canada Develop and maintain quality assurance programs Implement and monitor security protocols Coordinate staff training and professional development Managing risk assessment and mitigation Required qualifications: Training and accreditations: College diploma in nursing with 3+ years of experience OR Bachelor of Science in Nursing Member in good standing of the OIIQ ACLS Certification Minimum 3 years of experience in an operating room (hospital or private center) Bilingualism required: French and English (spoken and written) Solid knowledge of ORNAC standards Leadership skills Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate care teams: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Strong decision-making skills under pressure Commitment to continuous learning Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Technical skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records Experience with surgical planning systems Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies Understanding of applicable health regulations and standards
