Role: Senior z/OS Security and Operating System Engineer (z/OS, RACF, z/VM)
Location: Remote but needs to be near one of the People Centers
• (Salisbury, NC / Quincy, MA / Illinois: Chicago, Lake Zurich, Skokie / New Jersey: Jersey City / Pennsylvania: Carlisle, Greencastle, Harrisburg)

Job Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of RACF, z/OS, z/VM, and related systems.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, provide technical leadership, and drive initiatives to enhance the security, reliability, and performance of our mainframe environment. Experience working with a managed service provider is essential.
Responsibilities:
1. Implement and maintain mainframe security processes and solutions, including RACF, access controls, encryption, and compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
2. Design, configure, and maintain mainframe operating systems, including IBM z/OS, JES2, and z/VM to meet business needs and performance objectives.
3. Optimize mainframe operating system performance, capacity, and resource utilization through proactive monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely resolution.
5. Plan and execute mainframe operating system upgrades, maintenance, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
6. Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, processes, and best practices, to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance with organizational standards.
7. Lead mainframe projects, such as system enhancements, upgrades, automation initiatives, security, and disaster recovery planning.
8. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior system and software engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the IT organization.
9. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in mainframe operating systems and Linux distributions, recommending and implementing relevant updates and improvements.
Qualifications:
• 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related experience.
• 2. Extensive experience (7+ years) in designing, implementing, and supporting mainframe security and operating systems, including IBM z/OS, RACF and z/VM.
• 3. Strong knowledge of mainframe security concepts, processes, controls, and solutions.
• 4. Proficiency in mainframe performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization using tools like SMF, RMF, MainView, and Workload Manager (WLM).
• 5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex mainframe operating system issues.
• 6. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• 7. Proven leadership abilities, including experience leading technical projects and mentoring team members.
• 8. Relevant certifications, such as IBM Certified System Programmer or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert, are a plus.
