To thrive as an Operating Room Nurse, you need in-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and perioperative care, supported by a nursing degree and RN licensure with additional perioperative certification (such as CNOR) often preferred. Familiarity with surgical instruments, anesthesia monitoring systems, and electronic health records is essential for effective performance. Additionally, staying organized and keeping up with ongoing training can help OR staff remain efficient and prepared for emergencies, contributing to both patient safety and personal job satisfaction.
