Job description

Step into an essential role supporting patient care and operating room efficiency as a skilled surgical team member. This contract opportunity requires expertise as a Nursing ORT, Surgical Tech - Non-Certified, or Surgical Tech - Certified professional. The position involves assisting in complex orthopedic, neuro, and robotic surgical procedures and maintaining high standards for patient safety and operating room support.
Schedule & Hours:

  • 10:30 AM start time
  • Two scheduled shifts every other weekend
  • On-call requirements: 12 hours on weekends and 20 hours on weekdays within a 4-week period (30-minute response time)
  • Weekend call is in addition to the regular weekend shift
  • Up to 1 shift may be cancelled per pay period without pay
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in orthopedic, neuro, and robotic surgeries
  • Current credentials as an ORT, Certified or Non-Certified Surgical Tech
  • Ability to anticipate surgical needs and assist throughout the entire procedure
  • Knowledge of instrument setup, preference cards, and surgical safety protocols
  • Proficiency in regulatory compliance, including current certifications and mandatory trainings (TB, HIPAA, Safety, etc.)
  • Strong ethical standards and adherence to hospital/healthcare policy
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support patient care in the O.R. by preparing rooms, anticipating operative needs, and assisting surgeons
  • Select instruments and supplies according to physician preferences
  • Meticulously follow count policies, ensuring accuracy with instruments and sponges
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate critical information to the surgical team
  • Take initiative to improve processes and participate in department task completion, teaching, and process recommendations
