Job Description

Salary Range: $41.15 - $58.98

As a key member of the Surgical Day Care (SDC) team, the Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in SDC in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs. The successful incumbent continually assesses and monitors the patients condition throughout the pre-operative and post-operative period and assures patient safety.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required 
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum 3-5 years current clinical experience in Surgical Day Care required.
  • Certificate from a recognized Community College in Post Anesthetic Recovery Room Care required
  • Current BCLS required, ACLS an asset
  • CMH certified to initiate intravenous lines and administer intravenous medications required.
  • Completion of basic arrhythmia course an asset.
  • Must demonstrate evidence of clinical reasoning, problem solving and expanded clinical leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed, fast paced work environment with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Outstanding organizational skills required
  • Computer proficient including knowledge of Meditech system and O.R.+ system would be an asset.
  • Evidence on ongoing education in perioperative nursing.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
