Job description

Job Requirements
Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George's County, our state-of-the-art regional medical center (University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. In addition, our new space will allow us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George's County residents.
Under the regular direction of the Materials Manager - OR ,the Inventory Coordinator-Operating Room assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the comprehensive surgery inventory needs of the Operating Room Department in collaboration with the Medical Staff. The coordinator performs cycle counts, places orders, receives and dispatches shipments, tracks and manages tissues. Handles and distributes intravenous (IV) solutions as well as sharps, needles, razor blades and related materials.
Principal Duties: 1. Maintains the Inventory Control System, 2. Facilitates new items being added to the system, 3. Acts as a liaison between the Operating Room and Materials Service, 4. Reconciles discrepancies inventory balances, 5. Manages incoming and outgoing supply inventory, 6. Supervises Lead OR Tech and OR Techs, 10. Coordinates efforts in meeting regulatory compliance, federal, state and local regulations and standards, 7. Attends department staff meetings as required within the department, 8. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time, 9. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities,11. Communicates, complies and enforces the XXX Health System Mission, Vision, Values, Organization Policies and Procedures, as well as the focus statement of the department. 12. Communicates, complies and enforces Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines. 13. Par maintenance in OR supply areas, specialty ordering, cycle counts, all other duties as assigned. 14. Performs related work as assigned.
Work Experience
Education:
GED required; H.S. Diploma preferred
1 - 3 years of related experience required; 3 - 5 years preferred
2 years of experience with inventory and supply chain in a hospital or related medical services setting preferred
Must possess the following:
1. Knowledge of medical supplies.
2. Understanding of how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.
3. Ability to help complete tasks in the materials function that are not within job description.
4. Must have the ability to report to work on time and as scheduled; accepts adjustments when necessary.
5. Must be a self-starter; meets responsibilities without prompting.
6. Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis.
7. Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
8. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
9. Ability to drive to multiple facilities to which assigned.
10.Must possess basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology
