Job description

Job Summary

Join our Surgical Services team and play an essential role in supporting safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, Operating Room, the Operating Room Assistant is responsible for transporting patients, supporting surgical team workflows, and ensuring operating rooms are prepared and maintained.

Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with patient movement, specimen transport, room turnover, and supply management—helping ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced operating room environment.


What You’ll Do
  • Safely transport patients within the operating room and throughout the hospital
  • Communicate important patient information to the registered nurse and surgical team
  • Assist with operating room turnover, including cleaning and preparing rooms for procedures
  • Transport specimens to appropriate laboratory locations in a timely manner
  • Stock, organize, and maintain inventory of surgical and departmental supplies
  • Support general unit operations, including relaying messages and assisting clinical staff
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in accordance with infection control standards
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
