Job description

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the RN provides quality nursing care in an effort to promote comfort and healing, and to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes. He/She uses the nursing process and approved nursing standards to provide safe and successful quality care. Provides ongoing education to both the patient and their families.

Maintains an appropriate level of knowledge and clinical expertise through continuing education, in-service program, departmental competencies, and self development activities. Works as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide quality patient care. Provides guidance, education and support to the LPN's, Nurse Aides, and Unit Clerks.
naEDUCATION:
Minimum:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
LICENSE:
Minimum:
Current NYS license to practice Professional Nursing
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required through the RQI system during clinical orientation

CPI
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
One year of Med/Surg experience
Preferred:
One to two years of experience in Surgical Nursing
SKILLS:
Minimum:
Must be able to travel to multiple locations on any given day as requested. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Computer literacy. Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire into an Endoscopy position.


Preferred:
Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record.
