Purpose: 

This position focuses on generating new and deepening existing high value Wealth Management client relationships. Responsible for identifying high net worth prospects with lending, deposit and transactional support needs in target markets, developing acquisition strategies, growing relationships, maintaining a sustainable prospect sales pipeline, conducting sales calls and qualification of opportunities based on customer information and due diligence.

In this role you will:
Lead Portfolio Management:

  • Using knowledge of Scotia Wealth Management's diverse products and services grow your client portfolio and proactively identify opportunities and deliver solutions through referrals to other Wealth or Scotiabank partners.
  • Working directly with Retail credit adjudication (ACE) or with Wealth Credit Solutions for larger or more customized credit, structure and negotiate credit solutions, including all terms, conditions, structuring fees, interest rates and documentation.

Drive internal and external business development, maintaining a strong market profile with partners, COIs and other business channels:

  • Actively marketing customized Private Banking credit solutions (Total Wealth Credit Solution), to support wealth creation or diversification strategies, including borrowing to invest in marketable securities, real estate and insurance.  Solutions may include more sophisticated capital market structures such as currency and interest rate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Developing and executing new business strategies to attract and retain high net worth clients.
  • Develop client management plans and make referrals that result in deeper client relationships.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of client needs and proactively make referrals to: Investment Advisory Businesses (ScotiaMcLeod, Scotia Jarislowsky, MD Management, iTrade, Scotiatrust, Commercial Banking, Business Banking and the Retail Bank).
  • Lead financial planning discussions to document longer-term client needs and introduce specialists over time to meet client goals.

Maintain Operational Effectiveness by:

  • Ensuring daily and periodic management controls are in place and effective
  • Providing direction and guidance to all support roles as required, through coaching and periodic participation in Service Meetings and Skill Buildings sessions.
  • Reviewing and resolving client concerns and issues and ensure that the Bank's Customer Complaint Resolution Process is in place and effective. managing client relationships to ensure that credit facilities and accounts are operating.

Manage Credit Risk management by:

  • Fulfilling all retail credit requests through retail adjudication processes or working with the Wealth Credit Solutions team to develop commercial/customized credit proposals
  • Developing sound commercial underwriting skills
  • Ensuring loan security and other documentation is accurately prepared and maintained.

Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? 

We would love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years of Commercial Banking and/or Private Banking lending experience
  • Established network of High Net Worth clients and referral sources
  • Must be an experienced banker with exceptional interpersonal, leadership, networking and business development skills
  • University degree (BCom, MBA , CFA), in addition to industry courses (e.g. CSC, PFP, CFP)
