Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Operating Room department
  • Ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation for daily surgical operations
  • Attend daily OR safety huddles and hospital safety meetings
  • Partner with supply chain to review products and support cost-effective care
  • Investigate safety concerns and lead process improvement initiatives
  • Build and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
  • Mentor and develop charge nurses, team leads, and frontline staff
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Support departmental growth, including the upcoming hybrid OR expansion
  • Serve as a clinical resource during emergent situations when additional leadership support is needed
RequirementsEducation
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Experience & Skills
  • Current OR RN experience required
  • Experience as a circulator in an operating room required
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience (manager, supervisor, team lead, or Charge RN)
  • Hospital or ambulatory surgery center OR experience accepted
  • Experience with Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Spine, Eye, and Vascular cases preferred
  • Strong operational, communication, and team-building skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a high-accountability environment
Licensure & Certifications
  • Active RN license in any U.S. state required
  • Illinois RN license may be in process at time of submission
  • BLS Certification required
  • CNOR preferred
Unit & Facility Details
  • 6 Main OR suites
  • 1 Cysto suite
  • 1 Minor Procedure Room
  • Hybrid OR opening soon
  • Xi robotic system and SP robotic system available
  • Approximately 7โ€“25 cases per day depending on service mix
  • Highly engaged Unit-Based Council and service line coordinators
  • Strong anesthesia group and engaged surgeon partners
  • Experienced perioperative educator providing bi-monthly evidence-based practice in-services
Patient Population

Patients undergoing:

  • Gynecology procedures
  • General Surgery
  • Urology
  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • Spine surgery
  • Ophthalmology procedures
  • Vascular surgery
Schedule
  • Full-time, Mondayโ€“Friday
  • Hours may begin as early as 6:30 AM and extend as needed to support the team
  • No assigned on-call schedule, but the role carries 24/7 leadership accountability through established escalation pathways
  • Managers are not expected to routinely take floor assignments; clinical support is provided only during exceptional staffing or emergency situations
