Pacific Rail Services is looking for full time Lift Operators to join our team at the Union Pacific Avondale, LA Terminal!
This is a permanent full-time opportunity that allows those with railroad and crane experience to be hired with a starting rate of $18 - $20 an hour based on experience. Room for advancement. We run 24/7/365 facilities.

Summary/Objective:
The Lift Equipment Operator manages the overhead and/or side loading lift equipment to load and/or unload containers, chassis and trailers on and off railroad cars.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the daily operation of the overhead or side loader crane, while loading and unloading containers and trailers to railcars. This will include locking and unlocking container chassis, trailer hitches, IBC’s and bolsters.
  • Perform daily pre-inspection to verify the conditions of the tires, oil levels/leaks, hydraulics, lights, flashers, radio, damage and camera.  
  • Ensure all safety equipment is operating properly, including the location and condition of fire extinguisher.
  • Activate work assignments through the use of the on board computer system.
  • Be aware of your surroundings when operating loading equipment to ensure all processes are followed to maintain a safe and injury free work environment.
  • Ability to verify container, chassis and trailer numbers accurately.
  • Ensure clear communication is met with Ground Person and/or other personnel.  
  • Responsible for the compliance under HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations. 
  • company mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or supervisor.
  • From time to time, provide hostling and ground person activities to complement work conditions and volumes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Applicants for the Jockey Driver/Groundperson position must meet the general requirements for employment with the company, according to the Company hiring process which include:
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Advanced knowledge of railroad industry from a vocational education institute, apprenticeship, 
    on the job training and/or similar work experience.
  • Must be able to pass a 7-year background check. Any felonies in the last 7 years of jail time in the last 5 years will disqualify applicants.
  • Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test.
  • Must be able to pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test.
  • (No GED or diploma required).
