Job description

This is a hybrid position that requires a minimum of 3 days per week in our Raleigh NC office.
Position Summary:
Responsible for the engineering, implementation, and operation of enterprise infrastructure services that support AKC's business systems and digital platforms. This role ensures availability, reliability, and security across infrastructure domains while aligning solutions with enterprise architecture standards.
Operating within a shared services model, the Infrastructure Engineer collaborates across teams to deliver scalable, standardized, and well-documented platforms. The role emphasizes continuous improvement through automation, service enablement, and reduction of manual support effort.
As AKC evolves its technology operating model, this position will increasingly focus on cloud-enabled services, platform engineering, and proactive service ownership.
Primary Job Duties
  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure platforms aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Ensure infrastructure services meet defined availability, performance, and recovery objectives (SLA/SLOs), including ownership of resiliency, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Lead and support incident, problem, and change management activities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide advanced (Tier 3) technical support and coordinate vendor escalation (Tier 4) when required.
  • Develop and maintain architectural, engineering, and operational documentation for infrastructure platforms and services.
  • Define, implement, and enforce infrastructure standards, policies, and integration patterns to promote consistency and reduce complexity.
  • Automate routine operational tasks and enable self-service capabilities to improve efficiency and reduce manual support effort.
  • Support and enable Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams through knowledge transfer, documentation, and tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (applications, security, architecture, and business stakeholders) to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions and support transformation initiatives.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements aligned with AKC's evolving infrastructure strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
