Operating Engineer - JLL

What this job involves:

As an Operating Engineer at JLL, you'll be instrumental in supporting the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment across assigned facilities. This hands-on role places you at the center of building performance, where you'll independently execute maintenance and repair tasks that keep critical systems running smoothly. From HVAC systems and lighting to plumbing and building exteriors, you'll conduct inspections, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to repair work orders that directly impact occupant comfort and operational excellence. What your day-to-day will look like:

Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed building systems and equipment

Conduct facility inspections and due diligence efforts, documenting conditions that impact client occupancy and operations

Clean HVAC coils, change filters and belts, troubleshoot issues, and repair building HVAC systems to maintain optimal performance

Replace lighting, ballasts, and other fixtures throughout assigned facilities

Assist operations teams with maintenance and repair of building equipment and components as directed

Update work order status in real time using CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed

Comply with all safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and identify methods to eliminate safety hazards

Required qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems

Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications

Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Corrigo

Physical ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work from heights up to 30 feet, climb ladders while carrying tools, and work in extreme temperature conditions

Valid driver's license and commitment to practicing defensive driving at all times

Preferred qualifications:

Stationary engineer license or equivalent mechanical certification

Universal CFC certification (EPA 608)

Experience with building automation systems and energy management platforms

Electrical or plumbing trade certifications

OSHA safety training certifications

Experience working in multi-tenant commercial office buildings or similar large-scale facilities

Schedule: 40 hours per week 6:45am - 3:30pm
