Job Description:

Mechanical Engineer - Paper Converting Machine Company - Green Bay, WI

Under minimal supervision, the Mechanical Engineer IV performs engineering duties related to the design, development, and modification of machines, systems, and components in support of the business segment. This role applies sound engineering principles with consideration for manufacturing feasibility, cost, safety, and operational performance. Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, testing, installing, and supporting mechanically functioning equipment.

Essential Functions

Develop concepts for new machine functions, enhancements, and upgrades.

Create technical solutions, detailed designs, and assembly drawings.

Interface with suppliers to clarify system functionality and technical requirements.

Support Purchasing in evaluating technical proposals, costs, and supplier capabilities.

Develop and maintain product concept catalogs and specification workbooks.

Read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical guidance.

Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other technical data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.

Specify system components or direct product modifications to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance specifications.

Investigate equipment failures, diagnose root causes, and recommend corrective actions to maintenance teams.

Perform assigned work independently under minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related technical field required.

A minimum of eight years of experience in manufacturing in an engineering role.

Experience in hygiene, personal care, or roll converting industries is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks with high-level functionality.

Demonstrated experience supporting or leading project teams and contributing to project management activities.

Ability to solve complex engineering problems and escalate only the most critical issues.

Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and machine systems.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Design/alteration of moderately complex machines, sections, systems or units

Prepare layouts using CAD tools

Evaluation of moderately complex designs; make engineering changes

Prepare BOM, assembly drawings/schematics using CAD for moderately complex equipment

Assist in supporting manufacturing/assembly teams

Support field teams with technical assistance as required

Other duties as assigned
