Overview
The Senior Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the Waters Corporation enterprise telecommunications and unified communications systems. This role provides technical leadership for voice, video, contact center, and network communications infrastructure while ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and compliance with organizational standards. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with telecommunications technologies, vendor management, and complex enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise telecommunications infrastructure, including VoIP, SIP, PBX, unified communications, and contact center platforms.
  • Administer and optimize voice, messaging, and collaboration technologies.
  • Manage telecommunications carriers, service providers, and vendor relationships.
  • Lead telecommunications infrastructure projects from planning through implementation and post-deployment support.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot voice gateways, session border controllers (SBCs), call routing, and SIP trunking.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
  • Provide technical support for complex telecommunications incidents.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Support moves, adds, changes (MACDs) across global user base

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
  • 7 - 10+ years of experience in each of the following areas:
    • Enterprise level telecommunications design, troubleshooting, and support
    • VoIP technologies
    • Unified Communications platforms
    • Call routing and dial plans
    • Voice gateways
    • Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
    • Telephony, analog, digital, IP, SIP, call routing
    • Global number porting and migration processes
    • Documenting architectural standards, policies, and engineering designs
  • 5+ years of experience in each of the following areas:
    • RingCentral (or similar UCaaS)
    • Microsoft Teams Voice / Direct Routing
    • Contact Center platforms
