Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.

Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.

The scope of this role is to ensure that all security activities at BMM and associated properties, as well as the exploration facilities in Nevada, are carried out in full compliance with the Global Security standards and guidelines. The position will serve as the security subject matter expert at BMM and lead the implementation of the Global Security Standardization Program (GSSP) with consistency and uniformity. The Senior Security Supervisor will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security programs in accordance with Global Security guidelines and policies. The position will be in charge of designing and maintaining a performance-based security strategy that cost-effectively integrates an appropriate balance of personnel, technology, and procedures, assuring the desired level of security system effectiveness. The position will report to the Kinross Nevada H&S Manager, with functional and technical accountability to the US Security Manager.

• 1. Manage all day-to-day strategic and tactical security elements at BMM and associated properties, as well as the Exploration office in Reno.
• 2. Serve as a security business partner to all other BMM departments and give oversight and guidance where deemed necessary.
• 3. Ensure BMM security operations align with the Global Security Standardization Program:
  • a) Develop Site Security Plans (SSP) and Security Event Response Plans (SERP) for the mine site and other Kinross facilities.
  • b) Conduct security reviews, internal self-assessments, and audits.
  • c) Prepare mine site vulnerability assessments and keep them updated.
  • d) Develop a comprehensive security performance testing program for BMM to consistently assess the security team's effectiveness, site security procedures, and equipment.
  • e) Conduct credible threat assessments and design security systems to protect against these threats.
  • f) Evaluate the effectiveness of the mine site’s security programs.
  • g) Incorporate security into training exercises to improve individual, collective, and organizational capabilities, and management readiness.
  • h) Design and implement security projects that effectively meet mine site’s needs.
  • i) Work with HR and Health and Safety departments on conducting drug and alcohol testing on employees and contractors in alignment with MSHA requirements.
  • j) Ensure implementation of proper security measures for gold-bearing materials (GBM) areas in accordance with Kinross Gold Security Standards.
  • k) Maintain 24-hour on-call coverage for security incidents and emergencies and be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or outside normal scheduled hours as operational needs require.
• 4. Security Team Management
  • a) Oversee security team management.
  • b) Determine security force personnel and training requirements.
  • c) Create written policies and procedures to be conducted in various security operations.
  • d) Development of post-incident reports for review and analysis.

• 5. Program Development
  • a) Design and develop a security material control and accounting program, including products and materials, fuel, explosives, weapons and ammunition, chemicals, etc.
  • b) Serve as the lead security business partner to all other departments to capture security requirements and implement security mitigation programs effectively.
  • c) Develop a robust internal and external communications program.
  • d) Oversight of supply chain security program.
  • e) Develop and conduct training for all business units.
  • f) Incorporate the Human Rights Adherence and Verification Program into all security functions.
  • g) Develop access control systems consistent with mine site’s requirements.
• 6. Security Investigations
  • a) Serve as the Bald Mountain investigations lead on security investigations, where appropriate, as referenced in the Kinross investigations matrix from the GSSP.
  • b) Liaise with and take direction from the Vice President of Global Security, the Global Security Director for Operations, the US Security Manager, and the US Legal Counsel.
• 7. Global Security Technologies
  • a) Use Kinross Global Security technologies and data management systems as required (Security event management systems, action items program, Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) programs, etc.).
  • b) Serve as the BMM lead on these programs or platforms.
• 8. Public Security Liaison
  • a) Ensure relationship building and frequent communication with public security as deemed appropriate.
  • b) Promote discussions on Human Rights and best security practices with public security.
• 9. Act as security advisor on local security matters with the potential to affect BMM, integrating the Site Crisis Management Teams (SCMT) during incidents and other significant issues.
• 10. Ensure that the BMM Security Department implements budgeting and financial planning focusing on cost-effective resource management for the site and other Kinross properties.
• 11. Implement a specific security program to address workplace violence and active assailant situations, aiming to identify, assess, respond to, and mitigate threatening or intimidating behavior at BMM and associated properties.
• 12. Oversee the training on workplace violence and active assailant situations at Bald Mountain.

• Minimum college diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required.
• Minimum of eight years of professional-level experience in the security industry, law enforcement, or military. Prior experience supporting security operations within the mining or other heavy industrial sectors is preferred.
• Formal training and qualification as a security professional required. ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification preferred. Membership or association with a recognized security professional or trade organization is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience serving in a leadership capacity within industrial security, law enforcement, military, or comparable security operations.
• Strong working knowledge of security operating procedures, safety rules, company policies, emergency response procedures, and applicable MSHA requirements.
• Experience in business continuity, crisis management, emergency response, and incident management.
• Specialized knowledge and experience conducting security investigations, including evidence identification, collection, preservation, documentation, and preparation of investigative reports.
• Strong incident report writing, documentation, and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare objective, accurate, thorough, and concise reports.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, interpersonal, and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, contractors, visitors, law enforcement, and all levels of management.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while promoting positive attitudes, safe work practices, and adherence to company standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the use of computers, security systems, and communication devices required to support security operations.
• Ability to function independently, exercise sound judgment, and perform security responsibilities with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage and prioritize multiple competing responsibilities, respond effectively to changing conditions, and meet established deadlines.
• High level of personal integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, judgment, and administrative and organizational capability.
• Team-oriented with a demonstrated ability to develop cooperative, practical solutions across departments and operational functions.
