Job description

Open Pit Drill & Blast Engineer


Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 


  • Collaborate with the engineering, geology, and mine operations team to develop drill and blast plans that optimize production and aligns with mid-range and LOM plans.
  • Assist EOM reports of mining areas.
  • Generate drill pattern designs, blast timing, activity sequences, and schedules for the short-range drill and blast plans.
  • Generate and analyze weekly, monthly, and bench plan compliance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor, analyze, and plan pit sequence to identify areas of for improvement. 
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure mine plans align with overall production goals. 
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly highwall compliance.
  • Perform daily, weekly and up to 1 month drill and blast plans.
  • Guide operations to meet overall Short and Long Range plans.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field.
  • Experience in Mining or related field preferred but not necessary.
  • Proficiency with mine planning software such as, Deswik (preferred), Vulcan.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail, self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Prior Operations and/or engineering experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
