The Cloud Developer builds from the ground up to meet the needs of missioncritical applications and is always looking for innovative approaches to deliver endtoend technical solutions to solve customer problems.

Brings strong technical thinking to break down complex data and to engineer new ideas and methods for solving, prototyping, designing, and implementing cloudnative solutions.

Collaborates with project managers and development partners to ensure effective and efficient delivery, deployment, operation, monitoring, and support of cloud engagements.

The Cloud Developer provides business value and technical expertise to drive the development of innovative service offerings that enrich HPE's Cloud Services portfolio across multiple systems, platforms, and applications. Leads projects and feature delivery to market, with opportunities to provide technical guidance to peers as appropriate.

Management Level Definition

Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary. Exercises independent judgment and consults with others to determine best methods for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

This role requires strong ownership of endtoend features. The ability to provide technical leadership or assistance to other engineers is encouraged but direct people management is not required.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes feature specifications and determines required coding, testing, and integration activities.
  • Designs and develops moderate to complex cloudnative application modules per feature specifications, adhering to security policies.
  • Identifies, debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.
  • Owns features endtoend, from design and development through deployment, observability, and ongoing support.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive test plans for features adhering to performance, scalability, usability, and security requirements.
  • Deploys cloudbased systems and application code using CI/CD pipelines to automate application management, scaling, and deployment.
  • Applies systemlevel thinking to anticipate downstream effects and operational impacts in distributed systems.
  • Contributes toward innovation and integration of new technologies into projects.
  • Analyzes complex engineering and data processing problems to develop and implement effective cloud and application solutions.
  • Collaborates effectively in a highly teamoriented, distributed engineering environment.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or closely related quantitative discipline; Master's desirable.
  • Typically 4-6 years of experience building cloudnative services, with a strong microservices mindset.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong experience building cloudnative, productiongrade services using a microservices architecture.
  • Strong handson experience with containers and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Productiongrade programming experience in Python or Go; experience with both is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of endtoend features, with a track record of delivering complex systems; experience providing technical leadership to other engineers is a plus.
  • Strong system thinker who anticipates downstream effects, scalability, and operational tradeoffs.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong focus on observability, including logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
  • Solid automated testing background, including unit, integration, and contract testing.
  • Proven ability to debug and tune performance in distributed systems.
  • Securityminded engineering approach, including secure coding practices and secrets management.
  • Experience integrating across multiple platforms and APIs.
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide technical updates to engineering peers and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fastpaced, evolving environment.
