Job description

Satechi is seeking a detail-oriented Testing Specialist to handle inspection, testing, and disposition of returned product inventory. This role systematically evaluates returned units to determine suitability for refurbishment or resale as open-box products, ensuring quality standards are upheld and recoverable value is maximized. It works closely with Operations and Technical Support to maintain an accurate, actionable picture of returned inventory at all times.

Product Testing & Functional Assessment

  • Conduct systematic functional testing of returned units across all Satechi product categories.
  • Verify power delivery, connectivity, and device compatibility against published product specifications.
  • Identify and document cosmetic condition, including scratches, missing components, or damaged packaging.
  • Escalate units with unusual failure modes or recurring defects to Technical Support and Product Development for further investigation.

Disposition & Grading (Refurbish / Open Box / Scrap)

  • Classify each tested unit into a disposition category — refurbish, open-box resale, parts recovery, or scrap — applying grading standards consistently so open-box products meet customer-facing quality requirements.
  • Prepare units designated for open-box resale, including repackaging, accessory verification, and condition labeling.
  • Route units approved for refurbishment to the appropriate repair workflow with complete condition documentation.
  • Maintain disposition accuracy metrics and flag deviation patterns for process improvement.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records for every unit processed — test results, condition notes, and final disposition — across all units pending inspection, in testing, and awaiting disposition.
  • Generate regular status reports summarizing units by condition, category, and disposition outcome, and track return trends by SKU to surface potential quality or reliability signals.
  • Support audits or quality reviews with organized, traceable unit-level documentation.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Operations and Warehouse teams on storage, handling, disposition routing, return logistics, and inventory adjustments.
  • Communicate open-box product availability and readiness to Sales and Channel teams.
  • Participate in periodic reviews to align grading standards, testing protocols, and disposition policies with business objectives.

What we are looking for:

  • At least 1 year of experience in product testing, quality inspection, returns processing, or a related technical role.
  • Genuine technical aptitude with consumer electronics—comfortable with things like USB-C, charging, Bluetooth, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills with a methodical, curious approach.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for documenting defects and collaborating across teams.
  • Proficiency in inventory management tools, spreadsheets, or ERP/WMS systems.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to stay focused on repetitive, precise tasks.
  • Able to handle and lift products comfortably (typically up to 25 lbs).
  • Experience with Satechi or similar premium consumer electronics brands is a plus.

Why you’ll love working at Satechi:

  • Competitive salary package with up to 10% end-of-the-year performance bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, and 401k.
  • Hybrid work environment promoting work-life balance.
  • A dynamic and inclusive workplace culture with opportunities for professional growth.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $19.00–$23.00 per hour based on knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed.

Satechi is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
