We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.
The Robinhood Wallet team's mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain! We build secure, intuitive, and decentralized products that enable our users to custody and manage their digital assets. Our team works at the intersection of traditional finance and web3, driving progress in cryptocurrency and blockchain applications. We work closely with product managers, product designers, and security engineers to deliver highly reliable, high-performance systems for customers worldwide. We pride ourselves on a culture of shared learning, high technical standards, and respectful collaboration.

As a Senior Software Developer, you'll build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You will develop reliable and secure solutions to deliver a high-quality trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will take lead responsibility for designing scalable architectures and maintaining high-quality codebases. You will collaborate closely with client engineers, security professionals, and external node providers to deliver high-quality, secure technical integrations. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers and raise our overall engineering standards through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on technical leadership.

This role is based in our Toronto, ON office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do
  • Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet.

  • Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards.

  • Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction.

  • Collaborate closely with client teams, product managers, designers, and external vendors to deliver reliable technical solutions.

  • Mentor other engineers and raise the technical standards of the team through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on leadership.

What you bring
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.

  • Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures.

  • Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.

  • Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.

  • Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering high-quality, end-to-end products and raising team-wide technical standards.

Bonus points
  • Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.

  • Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career

  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, and equity ownership

  • Top tier benefits to fuel your work, including supplemental health insurance, ancillary insurance, and mental health support programs

  • Access to the best AI tools on the market and continuous AI skill-building for every employee, technical or not

  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible employer-paid benefits spending account expenses beyond traditional benefits such as wellness, childcare, learning, and more.

  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, paid volunteer time off, parental leave, and more!

  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.

  • Monthly commuter stipend to help offset in-office commuting costs
