Digital Literacy Instructor - Do you enjoy teaching others to use computers? If so, perhaps Dorcas International is the place for you.

For more than 100 years, we have worked to meet our clients where they are by providing wraparound services to help those seeking to overcome educational, cultural, economic, and language barriers. A non-profit 501(c)(3), Dorcas International offers adult education, language learning, job training, employment services, citizenship and immigration services, clothing and household needs, and more.

The Digital Literacy Instructor provides in-person and online Computer Literacy instruction, evaluates students' progress and learning gains, records learning gains and technology assessment completions, and supports the technology programs and services within the adult education classes offered by Dorcas International.

The Candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing digital literacy lessons tailored for ESL learners, teaching fundamental computer skills such as typing, internet navigation, and file organization.
  • Instructor will guide students in email communication, online safety, and cybersecurity best practices while providing hands-on instruction in commonly used software like Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • The instructor will incorporate the NorthStar Digital Literacy Curriculum into the syllabus and prepare and proctor the test.
  • They will support learners in job applications, resume writing, and online job searches, using interactive teaching methods that integrate language development with digital skills.
  • Offer both individualized and group instruction to accommodate diverse proficiency levels, monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community organizations to enhance learning opportunities and ensure student success.


The candidate should have the following:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required.
  • Prior computer literacy teaching experience.
  • Experience working with ELL or diverse populations.
  • Experience using tools such as, but not limited to educational software, remote/online learning platforms, and other technology.
