Summary of Responsibilities
  • Design and teach assigned Sociology courses in alignment with program and institutional goals.
  • Plan, prepare, and follow approved course outlines that include measurable learning objectives.
  • Develop and maintain instructional materials such as syllabi, assignments, exams, and supplemental resources.
  • Instruct, manage, and engage students in classroom and/or online settings using effective and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Evaluate student learning through appropriate testing, assignments, and other assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and accountability; submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Recommend students for advancement and graduation as appropriate.
  • Support student success by providing guidance, mentorship, and referrals to campus resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support the effectiveness of the Sociology program.
  • Participate in department and university committees and attend required meetings.
  • Adhere to academic freedom and professional responsibility policies.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Sociology or a closely related area and two years of teaching or closely related professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Sociology, or a closely related area, AND one year of teaching or closely related experience.
