Van Wert YWCA seeks professional, motivated and compassionate individual for PRN/Weekend Case Aide Position.  Experience with victim services and related field preferable but not necessary.  Hourly wage based on education and experience. 24 hours on the weekend and PRN hours during the week.  Applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Job Description

Job Title: Victim Advocate Weekend/PRN

Department: Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis/Human Trafficking

Reports To: Director of Survivor Services

Status / Type: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Working Hours: 24 hours per week, as well as PRN

Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation to the residents when needed to appointments, as well as grocery and food bank trips

  • Check key fob system for resident safe hours

  • Daily well checks for cleanliness and communicating with residents when changes need to be made concerning the cleanliness of their rooms

  • Monitoring resident contributions, creating weekly contribution charts

  • Solicit, organize, and inventory community donations

  • Organize and inventory the Resource Room, which includes the media center and resident store

  • Issue and keep track of the resident point reward system

  • Assist with YWCA functions as needed

  • Document all incoming telephone calls and community contacts

  • Oversee daily upkeep and maintenance of the bedrooms, commons area, and office space

  • Ensure Human Service guidelines protecting the safety and well-being of children are followed and any violations are immediately reported to the Dept. of Children Services

  • Comply with, and enforce all agency policies, program rules, and safety rules

  • Immediately report to supervisor and provide written incident report on all incidents which effect, or have the potential to effect, the health, safety and/or welfare of the residents or staff; within your ability and control, immediately correct any condition that creates a safety concern

  • Treat all victims/residents and staff in a respectful manner

  • Uphold resident confidentiality at all times

  • Uphold YWCA rules and regulations at all times

  • Meet regularly with the Director of Victims Services.to discuss program progress

  • Weekly rotation of on-call crisis phone and responding to sexual assault/rape crisis/human trafficking calls

  • Provide general support of individual program participants and their children and overall facility monitoring.

    • Be available to discuss current issues with program participants

    • Orient new program participants to the routine of the YWCA

    • Complete safety checks of the facility at least once per shift and document any repairs needed

    • Communicate with the Case Coordinators regarding program participants and their needs

    • Display conflict resolution skills and promote problem-solving among program participants

    • Provide skills training to program participants, including but not limited to: organizational skills and cleaning

    • Intervene in a crisis according to protocols, including written follow-up

    • Maintain building security

    • Ensure that program participants follow policies and procedures

  • Prepare and maintain all appropriate records when needed

  • Inform and assist program participants in filing victim’s compensation claims and accessing VINE

  • Serve as a positive role-model for program participants

  • Attend staff meetings and trainings

  • Clerical and administrative duties may include answering phone calls on a multi-line telephone system, monitoring security, and knowledge of current technology

  • Assist with facilities upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance as needed

  • Arrange for own substitutes to replace self if unable to work scheduled time. Inform supervisor and document as appropriate

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by YWCA Director of Victim Services.

Qualifications:

  1. HS Diploma required

  2. College courses in social services or related field preferred
